 Bringing Tweed to Life

Just as the elusive Corncrake before it, Rarebird attracts many visitors to the Islands and adds just a hint of the Hebrides to Cat Walks and Boutiques across the globe, including New York, Paris, Tokyo and Milan.

Using only the finest Orb marked Harris Tweed* available from the leading producers on the Islands, Rarebird lovingly produce handmade limited edition collections from their Studio in the spectacular Outer Hebrides. Each Rarebird handbag is created individually and has its own uniqueness, reflecting the passion and enthusiasm of its maker. Made to the highest standards, each handbag is interlined with a quality heavyweight linen canvas and lined with designer cotton prints. A hand-sculpted discreet wooden base maintains the shape of the design.

Rarebird produce their own Orb marked Harris Tweed designs and in addition to their exquisite handbags, also produce beautiful shawls, throws, cushions and soft furnishings in a wide range of patterns and colours, including bespoke pieces.

*Harris Tweed , or Clo Mhor, in the native Gaelic language meaning "The Big Cloth", is defined by law to mean a tweed which has been hand woven by the Islanders at their homes in the Outer Hebrides, finished in the Islands and made using pure virgin wool which has been dyed and spun in The Outer Hebrides. Only this cloth is entitled to carry the iconic Harris Tweed Orb mark, signifying its handmade quality."
